Sleeping States + Silent Devices £6 adv./£8 door
Sleeping States(Bella Union), the musical project of Bristol, UK-based Markland Starkie, has been
boldly evolving and flowering since 2004. Markland's transient, ever-moving nature is revealed in his
musical style and progression. An upbringing learning various musical instruments and classical
theories fused by D.I.Y punk, experimental noise ethos that hit Marland as he hit university is the
true source of Sleeping States.

feel akin to early John-Martyn...like Colin Blunstone singing for Tyrannosaurus Rex" - Uncut

rippling guitar lines, gentle snare and samples" Q Magazine 3*

Martin Carthy + Dave Swarbrick + Jack McNeill and Charlie Heys
£12.50 Adv/ £15.00 Door
For more than 40 years Martin Carthy has been one of folk music's greatest innovators, one of its
best loved, most enthusiastic and, at times, most quietly controversial of figures. His skill, stage
presence and natural charm have won him many admirers, not only from within the folk scene, but
also far beyond it. Trailblazing musical partnerships with, amongst others, Steeleye Span, Dave
Swarbrick and his award-winning wife (Norma Waterson) and daughter Eliza Carthy have resulted in
more than 40 albums, but Martin has only recorded 10 solo albums, of which the much anticipated
Waiting for Angels (Topic TSCD527) is the latest.
Sunday 13th September
